FINEO vacuum glazing for historic windows
Enjoy the warmth of triple glazing without changing your timber window frames.
New FINEO ultra-thin vacuum glazing delivers modern warmth and comfort to timber windows, without changing the frames. The WoodKeeper is a certified AGC installer of FINEO and was one of the first FINEO installers in Scotland, fitting it since 2020. We retrofit it into existing timber sash and casement frames as part of a careful, conservation-led restoration.
At just 7.7 mm, FINEO is the width of single glazing, yet with a U-value of 0.7 W/m²K it delivers the warmth of triple glazing, so historic profiles and glazing bars can be kept while rooms become warmer, quieter and cheaper to heat.
Every FINEO unit has an expected lifespan of 60 years and is backed by a 20-year warranty.

Why FINEO for heritage windows
Fits your existing frames
Retrofitted into existing timber sash and casement frames, so your original windows, glazing bars and mouldings are kept.
The width of single glazing
At just 7.7 mm thick, FINEO fits the narrow rebates of historic sashes and casements.
The warmth of triple glazing
A U-value of 0.7 W/m²K: eight times more efficient than single glazing, and better than a 36 mm triple-glazed unit.
Improved warmth and comfort
Warmer glass and fewer cold spots by the window make rooms noticeably more comfortable all year round.
Reduced external noise
Sound reduction of 35 dB, better than single, double or triple glazing, especially against traffic noise.
Reduced carbon footprint
Less heat lost through the windows means lower energy use and emissions. Lead-free and fully recyclable.
The only vacuum glazing made in Europe
Manufactured in Belgium by AGC, one of the world’s leading glass makers.
20-year warranty
Backed by a 20-year warranty, with an expected lifespan of 60 years.
How FINEO compares

FINEO and triple glazing, to scale
Thickness of each type of glazing, drawn to scale, with its U-value (lower is warmer). FINEO is less than a quarter of the thickness of triple glazing, yet insulates better.

How it works
FINEO is a vacuum-insulated glazing unit. Instead of the gas-filled cavity used in conventional double glazing, two panes of glass are separated by a vacuum just a fraction of a millimetre deep. With no air or gas to carry heat across the gap, the unit insulates far better than its slim profile suggests, and needs none of the bulky spacers that make double glazing unsuitable for historic frames.
Because the units are so thin, they can usually be retrofitted into the existing rebates of a historic timber window once it has been carefully repaired. The original sashes, glazing bars and mouldings are retained, and from the outside the window keeps the clear, light appearance of traditional single glazing. Where listed building consent is required, we can advise on the information needed for the application.
