This 20th Century table with carved lions suffered the action of time.
The whole surface was covered in dust and dirt, especially the high relief carving.
The top had scratches and cracks. Large areas of the polished wood were damaged by heat marks.
The global condition of the varnish was poor and preventing this splendid piece of furniture to be fully appreciated.
The old varnish was stripped off, some of the cracks in the were top filled with Bologna gypsum-based filler and blended in using natural pigments.
The whole table was repolished using shellac and finally waxed with beeswax.
